Nancy is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Laws (Intellectual Property) from the University of South Africa and Master of Laws (Oil, Gas and Mining Law) from Nottingham Trent University of the United Kingdom.
She is a past Chairperson of the Working Group of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO), a position that she held for five years until May 2018. She is also a Councillor of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, an editor of the Zimbabwe Law Reports and serves as a board member for two public listed companies in Zimbabwe. Nancy is also a trustee of a not-for-profit foundation which provides access to justice mainly to indigent communities. She is also a member of the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe.
Nancy’s practice comprises primarily intellectual property law, climate law, environmental law and commercial law.
In intellectual property matters she handles national and ARIPO patent, industrial design and trade mark matters including filings, prosecutions and oppositions. She also handles Madrid trade mark matters, plant breeders’ rights matters and copyright cases.
Nancy’s Masters’ dissertation for the Oil, Gas and Mining Law degree was based on a legal evaluation of issues pertaining to climate change, clean energy technologies and intellectual property in the context of the ARIPO patent system. This study contributed in large part to the integration of climate and environmental law into firm's mainstay practice areas.
Agatha holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe. She handles Zimbabwe and ARIPO trade mark and patent renewals as well as proprietary change recordals and litigation in trade mark matters.
Cephas is a paralegal in the firm. He conducts trade mark searches and attends to the filing of our ZIPO and plant breeders applications since unlike ARIPO, these Registries still operate manual filing systems.
He also assists with company name and property title searches at the Companies and Deeds Registries respectively.
