NANCY SAMURIWO

Nancy is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Laws (Intellectual Property) from the University of South Africa and Master of Laws (Oil, Gas and Mining Law) from Nottingham Trent University of the United Kingdom.

She is a past Chairperson of the Working Group of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO), a position that she held for five years until May 2018. She is also a Councillor of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, an editor of the Zimbabwe Law Reports and serves as a board member for two public listed companies in Zimbabwe. Nancy is also a trustee of a not-for-profit foundation which provides access to justice mainly to indigent communities. She is also a member of the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe.

Nancy’s practice comprises primarily intellectual property law, climate law, environmental law and commercial law. In intellectual property matters she handles national and ARIPO patent, industrial design and trade mark matters including filings, prosecutions and oppositions. She also handles Madrid trade mark matters, plant breeders’ rights matters and copyright cases. 

Nancy’s Masters’ dissertation for the Oil, Gas and Mining Law degree was based on a legal evaluation of issues pertaining to climate change, clean energy technologies and intellectual property in the context of the ARIPO patent system. This study contributed in large part to the integration of climate and environmental law into firm's mainstay practice areas.  

MAZVITA SAMURIWO

Mazvita holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Master of Laws and a Legal Practice Certificate (LPC), all of which were attained from Nottingham Law School in the United Kingdom.

She handles plant breeders rights work (plant patents) and ARIPO patent work including the filing of applications, renewals and post-registration recordal of changes.Mazvita studied EU Competition Law as part of her training in the UK and is proficient in advisory work pertaining to hard core cartel cases, leniency programmes, predatory pricing and conducting due diligence and advising on regulatory issues in corporate mergers and acquisitions. She is at the stage of integrating her UK law experience with Zimbabwean law nuances. Her international lenses add texture and cultural diversity to the team. 

LISTER NYATSANZA

Lister is a qualified Legal Practitioner, Conveyancer, and Notary Public. She holds an LLB from Great Zimbabwe University. Her practice focuses on Intellectual Property Law, specializing in trade mark and patent prosecution within ARIPO and Zimbabwe. Beyond the office, Lister is deeply committed to philanthropic work, ensuring her impact extends far beyond the courtroom and registry. 

ABIGAIL NDLOVU

Abigail is a dedicated Legal Practitioner, Conveyancer, and Notary Public. She brings extensive experience and a specialized focus on Civil Litigation, Commercial Law, and Intellectual Property. Abigail holds both an LLB and a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Technology Law (LMIP) from the University of Zimbabwe, providing clients with deep expertise in complex legal and technological matters. Beyond the office, Abigail is an avid reader and a devoted Taylor Swift fan.

SAMUEL MUSHENU

Samuel is our dedicated Office Clerk. He plays a vital role in managing our local registry operations, conducting trade mark searches, and handling the physical filing of applications at the ZIPO (Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office) and the Plant Breeders’ Registries, which still operate manual filing systems unlike ARIPO. His dedication and efficiency in handling these essential manual processes make him a valuable part of our team. 

EVERLY MWETA

Everly serves as the firm’s dedicated IT Administrator. He is crucial to the smooth daily functioning of our practice, leveraging his technical expertise to manage our digital infrastructure.

RICHARD BIKAUSI

Richard serves as the firm’s IT Intern, providing essential, first-line support to our staff. While actively developing his skills, he is involved in system maintenance and crucial troubleshooting for technical issues.
